His research interests are in photonic networks and radio-on-fiber communications. He has published over 190 papers in refereed journals, written two book chapters, translated one book. He holds more than 30 patents.
He currently serves on the Editorial Boards of the IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, IEEE Transactions on Communications, and Optical Switching and Networking as the Associate Editor. He is the Fellow of IEEE and the Fellow of IEICE of Japan
